Chelsea star Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid following the La Liga giants’ sale of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo has joined Juventus in a £105million transfer, joining the Scudetto holders earlier this month after nine years in Spain.
Chelsea forward Hazard could now replace him with Real Madrid giving up hope of luring one of PSG duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to the Bernabeu.
However, a Hazard insider has now claimed that Real are scared to bid for the Belgium international.
Spanish newspaper El Pais has provided an update on their pursuit, saying Real fear Chelsea would price them out of a move.
A Hazard insider is quoted as saying: “They have told us they do not want to mess with Chelsea.”
And that now leaves Real in a bid of a predicament.
Julen Lopetegui is keen to land three big players, including a centre-back, midfielder and striker.
So far, however, the club have failed to sign any with the La Liga transfer window shutting in a month’s time.
Hazard has been regularly talking up a move to Real in recent times.
And the Chelsea star has insisted the departure of former boss Zinedine Zidane has not made him change his mind.
Hazard said recently: “Does Real make me dream less without Zidane?
“Zidane is someone special, it’s true, but I think Real is everyone’s dream.
“Zidane or no Zidane, the white jersey [of Madrid] is special but the blue jersey [of Chelsea] suits me well so it does not bother me if I stay.”
