Arsenal are preparing for life beyond Ivan Gazidis after their chief executive received a formal offer from AC Milan.

Gazidis has informed the Arsenal board of an offer from the Italian giants and while he is yet to confirm if he will stay or leave, his departure is a very serious possibility, according to the Telegraph.

The 53-year-old is highly valued at the Emirates and has overseen a change in structure at the club over recent years.

Gazidis successfully replaced long-serving boss Arsene Wenger with new manager Unai Emery but his role in installing key club figures such as head of football relations Raul Sanllehi and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has seen Arsenal function far more smoothly.

Milan bosses now want him to oversee structural changes of their own and are keen for him to become an executive director at the San Siro.

Arsenal are not worried about any imminent departure, with Gazidis’ notice period allowing them time to adapt for life beyond him, but they are nonetheless concerned about the potential loss of such an influential figure.

Though a final decision has not been made, many fear Gazidis is ready for a new challenge and it may well be in Italian football.
